Introducing Project Hill: Transforming One Jack & Jill Bathroom into Two Private Luxury Suites

Some homes have plenty of square footage but still don't function the way the homeowners need them to.

That was exactly the challenge with Project Hill. Two bedrooms were connected by a traditional Jack and Jill bathroom, which worked well enough years ago but no longer fit the way the family wanted to live. Sharing a bathroom meant sacrificing privacy, and despite having enough overall space, much of it simply wasn't being used efficiently.

Rather than expanding the home, we focused on making better use of what was already there. By reworking the layout, reclaiming underutilized hallway space, and incorporating hidden voids that had gone unused for years, we transformed one shared bathroom into two private en suites. Every square foot was carefully considered so the finished layout feels natural, spacious, and far more functional than before.

One of our favorite parts about this project is that the transformation wasn't achieved by adding more space. It came from seeing the home's potential differently. Thoughtful planning allowed us to create two luxurious bathroom retreats while improving the flow of the entire bedroom wing, proving that great design isn't always about building bigger. Sometimes it's about making every inch work harder.

From there, carefully selected finishes brought each space to life. While the two suites share a cohesive design language, each has its own personality, creating spaces that feel timeless, welcoming, and built to be enjoyed for years to come.

A Smarter Floor Plan

Instead of expanding the home, we looked at the space differently.

Hidden voids, oversized hallway space, and underutilized areas were reimagined to create room where it didn't seem possible. Every inch was carefully evaluated, allowing us to maximize functionality while improving flow throughout the home.

The result is a floor plan that feels larger, more intuitive, and far more luxurious than before.

By turning one shared bathroom into two private en suites, each bedroom gained the privacy and convenience homeowners expect in today's luxury homes.

Bedroom One: Warm, Bright, and Timeless

The first bedroom was designed to feel calm and inviting, creating a space that is equally suited for guests or everyday living.

Soft Sherwin-Williams Alabaster walls pair beautifully with Whitecap Komen Advantageous I carpet, while the modern Wingbo 48-inch ceiling fan adds a clean architectural touch.

The adjoining bathroom continues the light and airy aesthetic with a layered combination of matte porcelain flooring, handcrafted-inspired wall tile, and a dramatic Iron Ore accent wall that creates depth without overwhelming the space.

The custom Strata White Oak vanity introduces natural warmth, complemented by matte black Delta fixtures and a sleek illuminated mirror that delivers both style and everyday function.

Bedroom Two: Rich Contrast with Organic Warmth

The second bedroom embraces a slightly richer palette while maintaining the same timeless feel carried throughout the project.

Fresh Sherwin-Williams Alabaster walls provide a bright backdrop, while the warm brass accents of the Parrot Uncle solid wood ceiling fan add subtle character overhead.

Inside the en suite, the design shifts toward warm contemporary luxury.

A walnut shaker vanity anchors the room, paired with elegant gold plumbing fixtures and a large gold-framed mirror. The shower combines soft neutral wall tile with a striking sage ceramic mosaic accent, bringing in natural color without feeling trendy. Matte porcelain flooring and a hexagon mosaic shower floor complete the space with texture and durability.

Finishing touches like the Savoy House Blair White Strie Glass vanity light elevate the room with soft, layered illumination.

Designed for Everyday Living

Beautiful finishes are important, but thoughtful planning is what truly transformed this home.
